Mulled Pomegranate Cocktail

This non-alcoholic drink combines fruit juices and spices making a warming and festive cocktail that is a good alternative to traditional mulled wine.

500ml pomegranate juice

250ml apple juice

2 tbsp. mixed berries (fresh or frozen)

1 cinnamon stick

2 star anise

6 cloves

½ tsp. ground nutmeg

1 orange – chopped whole

 

Orange slices to serve.

Using a medium sized saucepan place the fruit juices, berries, cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, nutmeg and chopped orange.

Bring to simmer very slowly, then turn off the heat and leave for 5 minutes in the pan for the fruit juices to be enhanced by the spices.

Strain and serve in heatproof glasses decorated with orange slices.

Pomegranate contains potent protective antioxidants.  It has good anti-inflammatory properties and has been found to have anti-bacterial action against infections.

 

Apples contain many essential nutrients including Vitamin C.

 

Cinnamon contains many essential nutrients, supports good digestion & is known for its healing properties.
