Fresh Orange & Cinnamon Bircher Muesli

Fresh Orange and cinnamon muesli

Easy to prepare, nutrient rich breakfast.  This low GI Swiss style fresh muesli will give a slow release of energy throughout the morning helping to maintain concentration and focus.

You can vary the taste by using different nuts and seasonal fruits.

4 heaped tbsp oats

175ml almond oat milk

1 tbsp natural yoghurt

1 grated apple

1 orange – zest of half the orange and then remove peel and pith and cut orange into small segments

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon pistachio nuts – roughly chopped

1 tablespoon flaked almonds – lightly toasted

Save a few almonds and orange segments to garnish before serving.

Soak the oats in the milk for a few hours or overnight.

Add all the remaining ingredients and mix well together.

Just before serving garnish with a few flaked almonds and orange segments.

Oats are a good source of protein and complex carbohydrates.  They are rich in B vitamins needed for energy production.

Oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C, flavonoid antioxidants, lutein, calcium and potassium. They are high in fibre and support liver detoxification.
